Caller: Hello, Are you Indian?
Me: Yes,
Caller: Can you speak Hindi?
Me: Yes,
Caller: (In Pakistani Urdu): You have just won 20,000KD on Behalf of Wataniya Telecom
Me: Really?? Fuck Off !!
I didn’t want to speak to the guy knowing that he will ask me to deposite 1ooKD in order to get the 20,000KD. Also I was being cautious because couple of months ago my Uncle did get similar call from Saudi Arabia and they made him send SMS to some number which cost him some amount of money before I intervened. It was really hard to make him understand that If ‘Zain’ (in his case it was Zain’s Lucky Number) wanted to him to have his 20K they would call him from Kuwait and not from Saudia.
I wonder how many people have fallen for this SMS hoax. Watch out ! There isn’t such thing called free lunch.
LOL, Grey! The big problem is that some of these personal approaches initially sound pretty good. And that’s the clue, isn’t it? If it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true. Watch out!
Forget other s looting. Wataniya telecom itself loots! Since today my family or friends call, every alternate call goes into answering machine and they are being billed for the call without recording anything. I call my out-of-station friend and the same thing happens to me instead of the message “phone switched off or out of coverage area” like before. Every alternate call is missing and I get a message that I have calls missing and to send sms so that they can cut more money. Any calls from landline do not get connected so we have to use mobiles. If we call landline from mobile we do not hear anything for one or two calls but we are billed for the call. CHEATERS TO THE CORE!!!!

I really want to report but the police here, they cant speak English and even get angry if someone doesnt speak Arabic. I will probably report to Wataniya at least.
