Food Review: White House Restaurant, Salmiya

Our first attempt to try food at White House restaurant Salmiya (previously known as Copper Chimney) was “flop”, apparently they don’t serve ‘single piece’ of Chicken tikka 😆 . But today we decided to eat at  White House for some reason (i.e none of us wanted to eat Dal from afternoon)
Our order was simple, Chicken fried rice + chicken Manchurian + Roti. This is my standard order at any new restaurant, before I try other dishes, and White House passed this test quite easily. Pros

  • Ambience – Cozy little place with soft light and satellite TV 8/10
  • Cleanliness – Very clean, full marks to cleanliness 9/10
  • Service – Excellent service, food is served with in minutes from ordering 9/10
  • Quantity – Value for money, the quantity served is large. 9/10
  • Price – Very reasonable prices, I wonder how long they can sustain with such low prices.  9/10
  • Quality – Excellent, both the dishes we had ordered were superb, just to the taste (spice level) we expected. 8/10

Cons

  • Space – Really tiny place, just 4 tiny tables, if you are a fat person it is better to take-away. 4/10
  • Hospitality: Staff must work on the ‘hospitality/greeting’ level; a smile could go a long way. 6/10
  • There was this one moment when due to lack of space, our ‘leftover plate’ (jootta khana)  was kept on the other table, some one was having dinner there, if it was me I would have freaked out had they kept someone’s leftovers on my table (even it was for few seconds)

To sum it up, White house Restaurant Salmiya (map) a tiny little restaurant which is quite nice, will definitely visit again, if you are living in Salmiya Block 10, and looking for a change from those same old  restaurants, this is a must try place. Total value for money.
